the "mini seasons"

The workbook is structured around 6 "mini seasons", each containing two months rather than the typical three in the Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter cycle. With this organization, you have more opportunities to reevaluate, and are more in tune to the subtle changes that are happening in nature.

Although this workbook is designed for the homesteader, your life isn’t just about the garden or chickens. Your life is (more importantly) about your family, your home, your job and your dreams. This workbook categorizes the different aspects of your life into 8 "facets" and each season you will determine which three need the most growth and which facets deserve celebrating.

the Grow & Flourish Assessment

At the beginning of each season, you will take a short assessment to evaluate your progress and set intentions for the months ahead. This reflective exercise encourages you to pause and consider which facets of your life have flourished, and which need your most energy. After the assessment you will reflect and set your goals in a way that is both intentional and aligned with your true desires.

weekly planning

After completing the assessment and establishing your goals for the season, the workbook helps you plan for success through two different exercises. The first involves documenting your existing obligations week by week, while the second allows you to outline your “ideal week” to help you effectively manage your time. Both of these activities assist you in prioritizing your goals while ensuring you stay on top of all your "must-do"s.

habit creation

Just like time management, habit creation is a huge part of achieving your goals. The workbook offers 4 spaces to create habits per season and track how often you complete them. Then on the mini season summary page, you can easily see where you succeeded and pinpoint areas where you may need to adjust your strategies.

reflect

At the end of each season, and before your assessment of the next, you have space to reflect and summarize how your two months went. Did you achieve your goals? Did your priorities change? This reflection is a crucial step in the Grow & Flourish system, as it allows you to celebrate your achievements, learn from any setbacks, and realign your focus before moving forward.

What are Mini Seasons?

"Mini Seasons" are the way the Grow & Flourish Goal Setting System organizes the year, specifically for homesteaders and gardeners. Rather than using the 4 traditional seasons, mini seasons divide the year into 6, acknowledging the subtleties and transitions that Mother Nature offers.

Each mini season lasts approximately two months, allowing you to focus on the unique opportunities and challenges that emerge during that time. This approach helps homesteaders synchronize their activities with the ever-changing needs of their land and lifestyle, fostering a deeper connection to the environment and giving you more time to breathe.

The Mini Seasons are as follows:

  • January & February: aspiration
  • March & April: Renewal
  • May & June: cultivation
  • July & August: balance
  • September & October: refinement
  • November & December: reflection

Each mini season encourages a mindful approach to homesteading, inviting you to pause, reflect, and adapt your goals. By aligning with nature, you can create a more harmonious lifestyle that supports personal well-being without letting the demands of a homestead interfere.

With the Grow & Flourish Goal Setting System, you’re not just planning tasks—you’re crafting a life that honors the ebb and flow of the natural world. Embrace the rhythm, and let your homestead—and heart—flourish.

What areas of life does the workbook address?

The workbook divides the areas of your life into 8 facets: home, mind, farm, dream, work, health, fun and love. At the beginning of each “mini season”, you will take an assessment to reflect on where you currently stand in each facet. This self-reflection encourages you to celebrate your accomplishments and identify the three facets you want to grow the most in the next two months.

By understanding your unique strengths and challenges, you can set actionable, realistic goals that align with the natural flow of the season and what’s most important to you.

I like my weeks to start on Monday instead of Sunday, can you do that?

Of course! I like my weeks to start on Monday too, so when you order just make sure to choose that option. For those that like the traditional Sunday start, that's of course available too. This option is only for the workbook, the journals do not have specific days of the week marked in them.

I'm a paper snob, what's the paper quality like?

Same here! Both the workbook and journal are printed on 60# uncoated, matte paper. This means no bleed through with markers, so you can color code to your hearts desire. The covers of both are also printed on matte paper, but it is much sturdier than the inside pages.

I'm not a homesteader, will the workbook work for me?

Of course! Although the workbook is intended to be used by those with a garden or farm animals, that is really only a small part of the system. Of the 8 facets of life this system addresses, only ONE is related to homesteading, so you can simply ignore that facet if it doesn't apply to you. The remaining facets focus on personal growth, wellness, relationships, creativity, and more—areas that everyone can benefit from exploring, regardless of their lifestyle. This holistic approach ensures that you nurture every aspect of your life, you’ll just be more in tune with nature while you do it!

So, whether you're a city dweller, a suburban adventurer, or someone nestled in the countryside, all that matters is that you love nature and want to be in tune with the natural ebbs and flows that come with being a human being in this world.

Do I really need the workbook?

Nope, you definitely don’t need the workbook to take advantage of this goal setting system. To be honest with you, I created the journal because it was a tool that I knew I needed. One of my goals for 2025 was to journal more, allowing me to celebrate the wins that my husband and I made throughout the year. This compounded, and turned into the journal that accompanies the workbook, giving you space each day to write a way you grew and a way you flourished that day. So, if you already have a journal you love, feel free to use it! The magic lies in the practice of reflection and intention-setting, not necessarily in the specific tools you use. The key is to make it a part of your daily routine, creating a ritual that honors your journey and growth.

How does shipping work?

The workbook and journal are both printed at the same facility, so orders containing only those will ship together.

Other items, like candles and the desk calendar will ship from their own locations, so separate shipping costs may be incurred.

Are your candles non-toxic?

Yes! I use non-toxic cleaners, skincare and makeup myself, so I made sure to find a candle manufacturer who has the same priorities. These candle are completely natural and non-toxic. They contain no lead, plastics, parabens, synthetic dyes, or phthalates. They are also made out of soy based wax, from beans grown in the US. The candles are also hand poured in New Hampshire.
