Dry Skin Routines

Here are step by step routines for morning and evening, complete with links to the products. Some of these are products I get commission from and some are not, but I am more than willing to send you samples of everything I mention here, they’re all products I use and love!

Morning

  1. Rinse your face with water, or use a cream cleanser like Beautycounter’s Cococream Cleanser. I personally feel that a cream cleanser is more hydrating than just water alone.

  2. Apply a hydrating toner to adjust the PH of your skin after cleansing (yes you need this even if you only rinse your face with water) like Beautycounter’s Mineral Essence.

  3. Apply a serum if needed, ideally one for moisture and skin barrier health like Cocokind’s Ceramide Serum or Acure Beauty’s Amino Acid Serum.

  4. Moisturize with a facial oil or moisturizer, I advise Beautycounter’s Vitamin C Oil or Soft Cream if you have dry skin.

  5. Time for sunscreen! As the last step in your routine, this is the one that will change the most depending on the season, so click below to find your perfect sunscreen for skin type, time of year and makeup preferences.

Evening

  1. Removing your makeup and sunscreen can be hard, especially when you have dry skin. I advise doing this in two steps, first with oil cleansing. To do this, you massage a plain carrier oil like Avocado or Apricot Kernel onto your dry face with your hands.

  2. To remove the oil, you can either use a soft wet washcloth, or you can use a gentle but effective cleanser like Acure’s Rejuvenating Scrub. I know this is called a scrub, but I really don’t think there’s much scrubbing action from this cleanser, so I think it’s safe to use daily.

  3. Apply a hydrating toner to adjust the PH of your skin after cleansing. You can use Beautycounter’s Mineral Essence like you do in the morning, or you can try an exfoliating toner every other day or so, like Beautycounter’s Triple Acid Toner.

  4. Apply a serum if needed, ideally one for moisture and skin barrier health like Cocokind’s Ceramide Serum or Acure Beauty’s Amino Acid Serum that you used in the morning.

  5. Moisturize with a facial oil or moisturizer, I advise Beautycounter’s Vitamin C Oil or Supreme Cream if you have dry skin.
